Loreto Sixth Form College students and staff have delivered another year of excellent exam results:

  • 54% A*-B grades – above national average

Loreto students are celebrating fantastic exam success, despite the increased academic challenge of the new linear A Levels. The 2018 cohort continue the college’s tradition of academic excellence with   1025 A*/A grades achieved.

We are delighted with the 943 A*-B grades awarded to students who took Science and Maths A levels. Loreto College is also celebrating excellent achievements in Social Sciences, Languages and Arts, including:

  • 73% A*-B in 3 D Design
  • 76% A*-B in Classical Civilisation
  • 75% A*-B in Graphics
  • 71% A*-B in Sociology
  • 74% A*-B in Photography
  • 72% A*-B in Spanish.

Once again there have been outstanding achievements in vocational courses: 91% high grades in Subsidiary Diploma (1 A level equivalent) courses and outstanding successes in Extended Diploma (3 A Level equivalent) qualifications, including 94% high grades in BTEC Travel and Tourism and 90% high grades in BTEC Sport.

Principal Peter McGhee said: “Our results are testimony to the hard work of students and staff.  Every college Principal was awaiting the summer results this year with, if possible, even more anxiety than usual given the changes to the A level specifications and the return to grades being awarded according to examination performance at the end of two years’ study.  These results demonstrate that Loreto students and staff have responded to these challenges, as they always do, with hard work, commitment and passion. I am very proud of the achievements of our students and wish our graduates of 2018 the very best in their next steps in Higher Education, training and employment.”
