The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall arrived in Manchester in June, to speak at the Manchester Arena to some of those affected directly by the terrorist attack. The royal couple spent time talking and listening to first responders from the emergency services and other members of staff who had been present on the night of the attack. Prince Charles and Camilla then moved on to Manchester Town Hall, where Charles  made a speech praising the resilience of the city, observing that Mancunians don’t look back in anger, but forward with resolution.

Loreto is an affiliated member of the Manchester Youth Council and three of our students attended the event at the Town Hall in their capacity as members of the Youth Council. Hassan Dantata, Sam Remi-Akinwale and Elijah Walters-Othman had the responsibility of representing the views of the young people of Manchester. They had an interesting conversation with the Duchess of Cornwall, who was keen to hear how the youth of the city had reacted to the attack; she praised the work of the Youth Council and encouraged them to perservere.
