BTEC Performing Arts students recently completed their final performance project of the year. In Unit 11: Theatre For Children students are required to create a performance for an age group of their choosing. Our students staged a reworking of Hansel and Gretel, suitable for Primary School children, entitled ‘Hansel and Gretel in the Creepy Woods’. The performance was a laughter filled event, enjoyed by the packed audiences that came to see it. 200 students from Rolls Crescent Primary School came with their teachers to watch the performance and thoroughly enjoyed it. The production included musical hits from La La Land , Into the Woods and High School Musical.

Mrs Hudson, Course Leader in Performing Arts said “Our students have worked really hard on this piece and should be very proud of themselves, the inventiveness, imagination and storytelling of any piece of theatre is vital, particularly in a piece aimed at children. This project has enabled students to develop a range of skills, as well as securing high grades for their performance assessment”.

Students are already preparing for their Upper Sixth Studies, sourcing monologues for their Unit 18: Auditions for actors and are looking forward to their full scale performance of ‘Girls Like That’ by Evan Placey in May 2019.
