Textile Design students recently had the rare and exciting opportunity to meet and work with successful fashion designer Jasper Garvida, leader of the London based fashion label Éthologie.

Having worked with names such as John Galliano, Alexander McQueen and Vivienne Westwood, and winning Sky One’s reality TV show ‘Project Catwalk’ following his graduation from Central St Martins, Garvida’s success has gone from strength to strength. His designs have appeared in publications including Vogue, ELLE, i-D, The Telegraph and Grazia, and his garments have been spotted on celebrities such as Katy Perry, Rhianna, Britney Spears, Florence Welch and Lady Gaga, to name but a few.

Garvida talked to our students about his beginnings as a young fashion designer and explained how he created and developed his own fashion label over the last seven years. He then delivered a practical workshop, demonstrating a range of textile techniques from his own collections for the students to explore, enabling them to create their own ‘couture’ textile samples as part of their current projects.
