Loreto College vs Cheadle Hulme 
Match Report by Mr Fitchett, Loreto College’s 1st Team Coach/Manager
After the euphoria of last week’s away win at Xaverian, it was always going to be an uphill struggle to replicate, especially when we had 5 missing from our usual 11. We had to draft players from our 2nd team, who in turn had to forfeit their game. That said, the players that plugged the gaps did a fantastic job: Burke and Taylor slotted straight into the midfield; Coggins dropped in at right back, and ‘Zain’ gave us width down the right wing.
Goalless at halftime with chances aplenty (not least a penalty shout on Max) then, just after the break, the second half substitute, Hassan, opened the scoring after a lovely team move and put us into a well-deserved lead. We then had several chances to put the game out of reach of Cheadle Hulme which we didn’t take, and would later regret. Enter the mad last 15 minutes of the match. The game was flipped on its head when the visitors scored 2 quickfire goals, one of which came from a ball that had arguably gone out of play on our right-hand touchline. “Play to the whistle’ was the lesson learnt. Moseley, the captain, ran the front line brilliantly and smashed home the equaliser.

The final 10 minutes were mostly played with 10 men, with a defender ‘sin binned’ out of frustration, and minutes later we were caught napping on the ball in our own area, allowing Cheadle Hulme to edge ever closer to a win.

Fortunately for us the attitude and desire from our men was superb yet again. Choudry was relentless and, with a point to prove against his old schoolmates, swept into their area to blast home the equaliser!

Mosley was made Man of the Match for his application and industry, illustrating once again the example of a tireless team captain.
