Forty Psychology students experienced a lecture by PhD student Tamsyn Hawken. She discussed her research: ‘Understanding of Stress and the Development of Psychophysiological Resilience’. The focus was on the experience of young carers, and the psychological and physical implications of their situation.
Students found the talk both interesting on a personal level, and very useful in helping them understand the process of Psychological Research. Tamsyn also kindly found the time to attend the Psychology Book Club. The book of the moment ‘The Curious Incident of The Dog in The Night Time’ offered the students an opportunity to converse with Tamsyn about her research on the interaction between the police and people with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The visitor was impressed with the way the students, many budding Psychologists, discussed the issue and expressed a keen interest to learn more.
