Kate is a lower sixth student at Loreto studying A Level History. During the Easter Break, Kate attended a Medieval History Residential at the University of Cambridge and she shares the experience below:
I was recently given the opportunity to attend the Medieval Worlds: Manuscripts, Texts, Film residential at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge University with the help of the History department at college. It was a valuable and highly enjoyable experience which has been very helpful for me as I was unsure of what course I wanted to apply for in the future. Whilst there, I took part in several unique activities such as a workshop on how Medieval books are repaired and bound on Campus and an interesting discussion on how the Medieval period has been presented in film. I was given the chance to see real Medieval manuscripts in the famous Parker Library and tour the city to get a true feel for college life. Being given the opportunity to experience life at college for a few days, meeting students with similar interests and staying the college accommodation, was very enjoyable and has allowed me to picture myself as a Cambridge student. The experience has inspired me to apply for university in the future. I would definitely recommend taking advantage of the opportunities and experiences the History department has to offer at college as they are very helpful and useful. Thank you!
