The two-year Aspire to Teach programme is a timetabled enrichment to support students who are interested in teaching as a career, or working with young people more generally. The programme includes taught sessions on a range of topics including how to access teaching as a career; ‘day in the life of…’ talks delivered by primary/secondary teachers and managers responsible for curriculum, pastoral and safeguarding; safeguarding; basic pedagogy and behaviour management; communication skills.

About Aspire to Teach

Students have opportunities to deliver micro-teach activities and other projects within the classroom based upon their areas of interest. There are also placements/work experience opportunities at St Patrick’s secondary in Eccles and visits to St Teresa’s primary school. The first cohort of Aspire to Teach students have been offered an interview at Loreto College for a suitable position when they have gained university qualifications by the Principal.
