“Llandudno offers students a fantastic opportunity to enhance their fieldwork skills.”
– Mr Grundy, Head of Geography, Loreto College
Loreto’s Geography students enjoyed a trip to the North Wales Coast, where they experienced the fresh sea air while developing essential fieldwork skills. As part of their A-level course, the students conducted fieldwork in Llandudno and Colwyn Bay, exploring the dynamic coastline and examining how it is protected. The trip also provided an opportunity to foster teamwork, along with the delightful chance to spot curious seals.
Mr. Grundy, the Head of Geography, described the trip as a great success and an excellent preparation for the geographical investigations students will complete next year. He also emphasised that by organising day trips throughout the year, the school ensures students acquire the necessary skills while keeping costs affordable.
This fieldwork experience is just the first of four days throughout the two-year course, culminating in students producing a 3,000-word piece of coursework, which accounts for 20% of their A-level qualification.
