A well won battle for Loreto in a game that finished 3-2 against Xaverian College in the cup quarter final. The will and desire from the side to overcome the challenge that the Xaverian first team side posed was commendable. Initially, both sides losing and regaining possession excessively when Loreto full back, Kieran, picked out Sam Connolly who controlled the ball superbly and put Loreto into the lead. However, the lead didn’t last long as the opposition soon equalised.
The second half was more composed and fluid for the Loreto second team when Rich Atta picked out Mustafa Al-Rubaiai who fantastically picked out the bottom right corner to put Loreto back into the lead. The battle between both sides continued throughout the game, seeing Loreto holding up the lead until the last minute where there was a late equaliser with the last corner of the game taking both sides into extra time.
Extra time began heatedly. Shaquille Lewys put Loreto into the lead once again after picking up the ball and beating his man before calmly putting it past the keeper. Loreto now go into the semi final after a determined performance from the side. Man of the match went to the goalkeeper Sohaib Tantouch.
