A group of budding Marie Curie’s will be taking part in the RSC Young Analyst Competition taking place at the University of Manchester after Easter. The team of lower sixth students beat four other Loreto teams from the current cohort to gain their place in the regional heat. Don Rocco Espina, the team’s nominated spokesperson, said “The competition was tough but fun and we’re looking forward to having the chance to work in a real University Lab in the next round”.
They showed excellent teamwork, problem solving skills and a keen eye for the detail which will be needed as top analytical chemists. We are sure they will be fantastic representatives for the college.
Mr Fielding, Head of the Chemistry Department, expressed his pride in having such keen chemists in the department “The team showed how well they worked together and complimented each other’s strengths and weaknesses. They really showed the joy that can be obtained by doing a science job with enthusiasm and diligence. I am certain the group can work with rigour and creativity to do themselves proud at Manchester University”
They were awarded the winning certificates by Vice Principal Michael Deasy.
Good Luck Don Rocco Espina, Deiko Iverieli, Monisha Dey and Sarthak Sinha (not shown)
