To demonstrate its ongoing support of art education for young people, the Royal Academy of Arts, supported by philanthropist Robin Hambro, launched a new initiative in 2019 entitled the Young Artists’ Summer Show. The project, open to all UK primary and secondary students aged 7 – 19 comprised an online and on-site exhibition, providing a unique opportunity for students to showcase their work. The project coincided with the Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition.

This year five Loreto Photography students won through to the Summer Show, selected from over 6,000 entries. The work of Christian Wong, Freya Garvin, Harry Nightingale, Jared Donald and Lily Cannon were featured online, and in addition Christian, Freya and Harry saw their contributions exhibited at the gallery itself.

The students’ work was judged by a distinguished panel of Academicians and their success has delighted staff in the Art Department at Loreto, one of whom commented: “It is such an amazing achievement for these students to exhibit their work in such a high profile gallery. They should feel very proud.”
