Dear students and parents/carers,

I know how incredibly stressful the last few days have been for many of you.  Following results day, we have been in touch with hundreds of you regarding your grades and the college has received many queries about whether students/the College can appeal .  We intended to deal with all appeals by the end of next week but following OFQUAL (the examinations regulator) announcement with regards to appeals on Friday and its U-turn on Saturday night (11.30 pm) we found ourselves in a position where we are no longer sure what you are allowed to appeal for, the exact process for appeal or what the final deadline is (it has been moved twice now).

I am truly sorry that I cannot give you the reassurance that you need and crave and my only advice, at this stage, is to write to your local MP to express your dissatisfaction about the current situation.  Please note that this is not a political statement-As Principal of Loreto College, my main duty is the success and well-being of our students and I will do everything I can to protect them and their future.  Since Thursday, we have been lobbying at local, regional and national level, working with local and national representatives and the analysis that we have done will be used as evidence to OFQUAL this week.

I hope that this reassures you that we are doing everything in our power to ensure that we reach a solution as soon as possible.

In the meantime, do not hesitate to contact us if you need further support.

Kind regards

Michael Jaffrain

Principal
