Students on the BTEC First Diploma in ICT course were looking forward to their trip to the National Football Museum in Manchester. The purpose of the visit was to gather photos and videos for their Unit 17 Multimedia Products Development projects. They are designing and creating an interactive presentation and a movie on the theme of the museum, with the idea being that they would be used as a guide for visitors on mobile devices or TV screens. Therefore they were particularly looking at how the museum uses interactive media to guide visitors and what interactive attractions there were that could be used for ‘hands on’ learning.
ICT teacher Mike O’Neill observes that: “We were lucky that there was also an exhibition on the use of ICT in football games. Students were particularly keen on the chance to head a ball and be photographed by an action camera mid header, mainly as the resulting pictures ended up on a slideshow in the museum, which gave them a chance to laugh at their mates’ funny facial expressions.”
