Eleven Loreto students who have gained places on the prestigious Career Ready programme recently joined over a thousand other students in London for a ‘Capital Experience’ which was the launch of their yearlong programme of masterclasses, internships and mentoring.

The day began with a series of motivational speeches from former Career Ready graduates and Action Jackson which provided amazing inspiration and got the day off to an energetic start. Students then made their way to the offices of Wates Construction in Euston for a masterclass with Nina Hughes in networking and then practised these skills with members of the Wates team. Nina was delighted with the students and commented that: ‘They were all so impressive and keen to learn.’ The students were able to gain experience in professional presentation skills and to kick-start their Career Ready journey. This was followed by a visit to University College, a tour of the Mechanical Engineering labs and a question and answer session with postgraduate students.

The day was a fantastic opportunity for students to experience professional and academic opportunities and to inspire and motivate them for the future. Student Mahgul Hussain summed up the day: ‘The trip was really interesting and fun. I learnt a lot from this experience.’
