Loreto College’s Aspire to Teach enrichment group has been focusing on the history of LGBTQ+ people in various subjects. They have created educational materials to distribute across classrooms at Loreto. Some have opted for posters, while others have delivered PowerPoint slides to their classes. From English to Chemistry, their goal is to educate and inspire students to become more aware of LGBTQ+ people in history. This year’s LGBTQ+ History Month theme is “Under the Scope,” with some of our students focussing more directly on medicine, healthcare, and the NHS.

Aspire to Teach is a one-of-a-kind enrichment that provides students with direct experience of teaching through placements and weekly timetabled classroom sessions to build skills that prepare students for their teaching journey. Regular visits from internal and external speakers give students a varied learning experience, and university application support is embedded throughout the programme.
