Students from Loreto’s Politics Society attended the final day of the Labour Party Conference in Liverpool this September. The day began with a discussion featuring Yvette Cooper, the General Secretary ofLoreto Politics students talking to the Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner the Labour Party and Home Secretary.

The group toured various conference stalls that represented a range of pressure groups and had the opportunity to meet Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner and Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson along the way.

Students also spoke with a Sky News reporter and watched the live filming of the BBC’s Politics Live.

In the Conference Hall, they observed a vote on current party policy, listened to Ellie Reeves’ closing speech, and witnessed the long-standing Labour Party tradition of singing “The Red Flag” and “Jerusalem” as the conference concluded. Overall, the day provided students with valuable insights into the world of party politics.
