MUSIC AT LORETO COLLEGE
Music is an integral part of the student experience at Loreto. The department itself houses state-of-the-art facilities, including three recording studios, our listed Victorian Chapel and a 188 capacity performance theatre.
In addition to the Music A-level, the department offers all students a chance to perform and enjoy music in a broader context.
The Music Programme at Loreto College is the extensive line-up of extra-curricular music activities that take place here. Nearly 200 students participate in over 40 different ensembles and groups, from Loreto Symphony Orchestra to Barbershop Group, and from Chamber Choir to the College record label, E&K Records. There is a full scale musical production staged in our purpose built E & K theatre.
Loreto’s different groups and soloists perform annually at prominent venues such as RNCM, Manchester Town Hall, Band on the Wall & Halle St Peter’s. There are also two prestigious competitions; the Loreto Composition Prize and the St Celia Concerto Competition.
