Former Loreto College photography student Papa Nii Akushey Quaye, is part of a group of final year photography students from Manchester Metropolitan University, who have work in the exhibition Sonder, which had a very successful launch on Tuesday (14th December) at PS Mirabel, the artist run project and exhibition space in the heart of Manchester. The show is not themed, but is being used by the students “to develop their self-recognition as an artist among peers, and to understand their work in a physical space”. After leaving Loreto in 2018, Papa completed an art foundation course before starting his degree. As a British-Ghanaian multidisciplinary artist, Papa’s practice explores diasporic identity and experience by weaving memories with everyday objects.
The show closes on Saturday 18 December, so you still have time to see it if you’re quick.
